TIFFIN -- Heidelberg University baseball has seen better days at Peaceful Valley. The Student Princes dropped a pair of contests to Wilmington College, 4-0 and 17-3. The losses snapped a string of 22 consecutive wins over the Quakers.
GAME ONE: WILM 4-10-2 BERG 0-6-1
Wilmington scored once in the second and three times in the sixth.
Making just his second start of the season, Tyler Shaneyfelt stymied the Student Princes. He fired a complete game shutout, scattering six hits. He also saved the Quakers pitching staff with his 133-pitch outing after Wilmington played twice on Wednesday and twice on Friday.
Corbin Caplan (1-3) picked up the loss for Heidelberg, going 5.1 innings and allowing six hits.
GAME TWO: WILM 17-18-0 BERG 3-7-3
The Quakers carried momentum into the night cap, taking the lead with a three-run homer in the top of the first.
Camden Farley launched his seventh home run of the year in the bottom of the first, a solo shot to left center.
Heidelberg inched closer in the second.
Keaton Mark walked and stole second. After advancing on a ground out, he scored on a base hit by
Memphis Cutshall.
Wilmington erupted for seven runs in the third and three in the fourth. They added four in the seventh.
Salvatore Rocco hit a pinch-hit home run in the sixth, energizing the sun-drenched Berg faithful for a bit.
