TIFFIN -- Powered by three home runs from
Camden Farley, the Heidelberg University baseball team salvaged a split with No. 9 Baldwin Wallace University on a picturesque day at Peaceful Valley. The Yellow Jackets won a wild 13-9 affair in the opener, but Heidelberg took the more subdued nightcap, 5-1.
Farley's home run hat trick came on a day when The Berg hit seven longballs.
GAME ONE: BW 13-14-1 BERG 9-12-0
The Yellow Jackets got on the board early with a three-run home run to left in the first.
Heidelberg loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the inning, but one scored once.
Adam McVicker crossed the plate on a balk by
Garrett Miller.
Sunday's hero
Andrew Pokley hit a one-out double to right in the fourth, then scored on a base hit by
Deaunte Fleming. With two out and the bases empty,
Thomas Sauer unleashed his third home run of the year -- a shot to left that tied the game at three.
Camden Farley belted a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, putting Heidelberg on top for the first time. The Yellow Jackets tied the game in the top of the sixth.
BW's Luke Vonderhaar hit his second three-run homer in the seventh to put BW ahead 8-5. Mark Mohnickey added a solo shot in the eighth.
Down 9-5, The Berg battled back. Farley ignited the rally with his second home run of the game to lead off the eighth. After a pair of strikeouts, Fleming joined the home run parade with a solo shot to left. Sauer bounced a base hit through the left side and rolled HU back to the top of the line up. There,
Adam McVicker tied the game with a two-run home run to right.
Despite the Heidelberg rally, the Yellow Jackets enjoyed a four-run ninth and held on for the win.
GAME TWO: BERG 5-9-0 BW 1-5-0
Eric DeVore broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth. He hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run missile to left center.
BW's Drew Wilson answered with a solo shot in the fifth.
In the eighth, Heidelberg added some insurance.
Robert Hunt led off with a single to right and scored on a double to left center by
Keaton Mark. With one out, Farley launched a majestic home run to left -- his third of the afternoon.
Heidelberg took a 5-1 lead into the ninth, where
Ridge Clark (Sv., 2) worked his third consecutive scoreless inning and picked up a three-inning save.

Jake Hall (2-1) allowed one run on five hits in six full innings of work.
