HANOVER, Indiana -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team lost its final non-conference contest of the year, suffering a 17-5 setback on the road at Hanover College on Sunday.
The Panthers scored the first three goals, but
Hannah Kaplan put HU on the board with her sixth goal of the season midway through the first quarter. After a Hanover goal,
Brianna Lloyd tallied her 12th of the year. Hanover led 4-2 after one.
The hosts scored all seven goals of the second quarter and held an 11-2 edge at halftime.
Lloyd and Kaplan opened the scoring in the third quarter with goals 90 seconds apart.
Hanover tallied the next six goals -- three in the third and three in the fourth, building a 17-4 lead.
Sydney Shaffer capped the scoring with a goal with 1:56 left. It was her seventh of the year.
Kerry Hastings had a team-high four shots on goal.
Defensively,
Kelly Spence caused three turnovers and scooped up three ground balls.
Netminder
Ella Lane made eight saves.
Heidelberg hosts Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
