TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team played their home opener against Alma College on Sunday. Despite the good weather, they fell 22-10.

The Student Princes fell to 0-6 in their pre-conference drive. Meanwhile, the Scots improved to 6-0. 

Gianna Ricci scored the opening goal a minute and a half in. Alma proceeded to find the net for the next six goals, outscoring The Berg 9-3 in the first.  

Alma scored four more to Heidelberg's one in the second quarter, sending them to halftime ahead 13-4. 

The Tricolor shot out of the gates scoring three goals in two minutes, one from Hannah Kaplan and two from Brianna Lloyd. Despite the flurry of goals, HU trailed 19-7 at the end of the third. 

Kerry Hastings and Kelly Spence each added one of their own in the fourth quarter. Wrapping up the game was Sydney Shaffer with an electric goal at the one second mark, her seventh of the season. 

Heidelberg led draw controls 20-14 and ground balls 20-17. 

Alma merely outshot Heidelberg by four, 37-33. Emma Keith had nine goals for the Scots.

In goal, Ella Lane made nine saves.  

HU returns to action on Friday at home against Calvin.  The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
