NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead, but lost on the road at Westminster College. The Titans outscored Heidelberg 7-1 in the second half en route to a 15-7 victory.
Despite conceding a goal in the first minute of action, Heidelberg (0-2) regrouped and jumped out to a 5-1 lead.
Kelly Spence found the equalizer at the 13:26 mark of the first quarter and
Sydney Shaffer gave HU the lead 30 seconds later.
Brianna Lloyd scored the game's next three goals over a seven-minute span.
The hosts, however, scored seven straight goals and led 8-5. Lloyd ended the run with a 'Berg goal 24 seconds before halftime.
Ahead 8-7 in the third, Westminster opened the second half with three goals before Shaffer nabbed her second marker of the contest midway through.
The Titans ended the game with four more goals.
Lloyd finished with four goals on eight shots.
Defensively,
Mackenzie Hawley and
Payton Dawson caused three turnovers apiece. Dawson added three ground balls.
In goal,
Ella Lane stopped 10 shots and tallied 11 ground balls.
The Berg is back in action next Wednesday when they travel to Adrian College (1-2) for a 7 p.m. tussle.
