Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

WLAX downed on the road

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Playing their fifth-straight road game to start the season, the well-traveled Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team lost to Wittenberg, 21-8.  Five different Student Princes found the back of the net in the loss.

Heidelberg makes their home debut on Sunday at 1 p.m., hosting Alma College in Hoernemann Stadium.

Kelly Spence scored on a free-position shot 40 seconds into the game to give HU an early advantage.  Less than 30 seconds later, Brianna Lloyd doubled the 'Berg lead with a goal.

It took seven minutes for the Tigers to tie the game, but Lloyd struck again, which put HU up 3-2.  Wittenberg, however, scored the next seven goals and led 9-3.

Heidelberg momentarily regained momentum with goals from Kerry Hastings and Hannah Kaplan and trailed 10-5 at halftime.

The Tigers outscored HU in the second half, 11-3. HU's goals were scored by Hastings, Kaplan and Sydney Shaffer.

Ella Lane made 12 saves.  Lloyd and Shaffer each scooped up four ground balls.  Lloyd caused three turnovers.
