STEUBENVILLE -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse wrapped up Spring Break with a 15-5 setback at Franciscan University.
Kerry Hastings and
Sydney Shaffer each scored a pair of goals in the loss.
Heidelberg dipped to 0-4 while the Barons improved to 2-2
The Barons scored the opening seven goals of the contest, but Hastings scored twice in a 2.5 minute span near the end of the first quarter.
Franciscan scored the only three goals of the second and led 10-2 at halftime.
Brianna Lloyd scored at the 10:55 mark of the third quarter, which made it a 11-3 contest. The Barons added the next six goals of the match.
Shaffer's goals came late in the fourth, 2:27 apart.
Kelly Spence and
Courtney Moggio each caused three turnovers. Spence, Moggio and
Payton Dawson all had three ground balls.
In goal,
Ella Lane made 17 saves.
HU returns to action on Wednesday, at Wittenberg. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
