ADA -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team dropped its final road game of the regular season, falling 71-55 at Ohio Northern University on Wednesday. The Student Princes had four players in double figures.
Hallie Rogers had 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists in the loss.
Lily Sweeney and
Elisha Carter also had 12 points.
Marissa Thomas added 10 points.
Heidelberg took a four-point lead when
Taylor Ratliff stepped into a 3-pointer with under three minutes to play in the 1st. A jumper by Brooke Allen in the closing seconds gave the hosts a 21-18 lead after one.
Rogers hit a layup with 5:38 to play in the half that put HU ahead 28-25. Unfortunately, the Polar Bears would go on to close the half on a 12-0 run and led 37-28 at the break.
The ONU lead blossomed to 16 in the third period, which ended with a 14-point advantage.
Carter scored seven of her career-high 12 points in the fourth quarter, but Heidelberg was unable to get the deficit back into single-digits.
Heidelberg only committed 11 turnovers and shot 37.5% from the floor.
Neither team missed from the foul line -- with Heidelberg going 6-for-6 and ONU going 13-for-13.
The Student Princes close the regular season at home on Saturday. Marietta College visits for a women's/men's doubleheader, slated for a 2 p.m. start.
