BEREA -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team ran into a buzzsaw on a frigid Wednesday night, falling to No. 14 Baldwin Wallace, 66-42. Offensive woes plagued the Student Princes in the first half, digging a hole that the youthful 'Berg squad would remain in for the remainder of the contest.
Heidelberg slipped to 3-14 overall, 2-8 in OAC action. BW improved to 12-3, 9-1.
Hallie Rogers led Heidelberg with a team-high 10 points -- the fifth time in double figures this season for the freshman.
Bailey Walter had a team-high six rebounds.
The Student Princes shot under 25% from the floor in the first and second quarters and found themselves down by 22 points at halftime.
Early in the third quarter, Heidelberg went on a 6-0 surge which included a jumper from
Lily Sweeney and a three-point play from Rogers.
Taylor Ratliff closed the quarter with a 3-pointer.
An 8-0 'Berg run in the fourth was enough to help HU outscore BW over the final 10 minutes. The run was highlighted by another 3-pointer from Ratliff, three free throws from Walter, and a layup by
Morgan Altenburger.
BW had two players in double figures, led by Megan Scheibelut's game-high 17 points.
The Student Princes return to the road on Saturday as they visit Wilmington (5-12, 1-8). The tip is slated for 2 p.m.
