BLUFFTON, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team remained undefeated in the 2021 season with a sweep of Bluffton University on Friday evening. The Student Princes took down the Beavers 25-11, 25-19, 25-23. 

The Berg improved to 2-0 in the 2021 season. Bluffton slipped to 1-1. 

Heidelberg Senior Maddie Szawranskyj led the attack with 13 kills and a .500 clip. Berg libero, Sarah Oney collected 12 digs. 

Anamya Truex and Taylor Gimenez tallied seven kills each. Truex also put up six blocks from the front line. 

Nicole Thomas recorded eight digs and two serving aces in the back line.

Kelsey Custenborder controlled the offense with 17 assists. 

After trailing 6-1 early in the first set, Heidelberg recovered to take a comfortable win 25-11. 

The momentum continued into the second set where the Student Princes scored 12 kills and attacked at .345 as a team. 

Bluffton would not go down easily in the third set. The Beavers scored 13 kills as a team in the final frame. It took a late Heidelberg run to seal the victory. 

Heidelberg scored 36 kills as a team and hit a .280 attack percentage. 

The Student Princes will continue the Sommer Center Spiketacular tomorrow, taking on Trine at 10 a.m. followed by Ohio Wesleyan at noon.
