ADRIAN, Mich. – The Heidelberg University volleyball team earned a hard-fought, five-set victory over the host Adrian College Bulldogs on Friday night.  The Student Princes struggled early, dropping the first two sets before bouncing back to earn the road win 14-25, 26-28, 25-19, 25-20, 15-9.

HU improved to 9-4 on the year while Adrian fell to 4-8.

Liana Petitti led Heidelberg with 20 kills in the match while Maddie Szawranskyj (14 kills) and Ashley Foster (13 kills) got into double-digits as well.  Kelsey Custenborder registered 31 assists and Sarah Oney had 22 digs to lead the way.

Playing their first match in the Wolverine State since 2016, HU was slow out of the gate, dropping the first set 25-14 while only hitting .094 before falling in a back-and-forth second set 28-26.

The third set was when the tide started to turn in the favor of the visitors as the Berg hit .333 in the set to take it 25-19.

The Student Princes followed that up with another solid set, taking the fourth 25-20 before wrapping things up in the fifth by hitting .474 and winning the set 15-9 to clinch the match.

The Student Princes will be back in action next Wednesday, September 29th, when they travel to Lima to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio.  That match is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.
