BEREA -- In the quarterfinal round of the OAC Softball Tournament, the No. 6 seed Heidelberg Student Princes fell to No. 3 seed Baldwin Wallace. BW scored in each half-inning en route to a 13-1 victory.
Heidelberg's season concludes with a record of 15-21-1. BW advances to the semifinals where they will face Muskingum.
With the loss, the careers of seniors
Brooke Lewis,
Bailee Faulkner,
Leah Bouillon, and
Shelby Miller come to an end. Miller had a double in the second inning.
Baldwin Wallace took a 1-0 lead in the first on a two-out single by Bridie Bricker. The Yellow Jackets would add four more in the second and two more in the third.
Down 7-0 in the fourth, Heidelberg got on the board.
Emma Dean tripled off the wall in right center field and scored on a ground out by
Brooke Lewis.
The relentless BW offense continued to hammer away at the Student Princes in the fourth, plating six more.
Heidelberg was unable to stave off the mercy rule in the fifth.
The trip to the OAC Tournament was Heidelberg's fifth in the last six full seasons.
