TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team fought valiantly, but fell to visiting Ohio Northern, 23-9. The Student Princes remain on the hunt for their elusive first win of the season.
Angela Lulejian had a monster night offensively for The Berg. The senior from California scored six times on the evening.
The Student Princes kicked off the high-scoring first half with a goal by Lulejian in the first minute of action.
ONU would score the next four goals before Lulejian scored again with 22:35 left in the half. From there, the teams traded goals -- with HU's tallies coming from
Brianna Lloyd and Lulejian twice.
Up 8-5, ONU would put up four goals in a row, taking a 12-5 lead. Undaunted, The Berg regained momentum with goals from
Gianna Ricci and
Kelly Spence. Later, Lulejian tallied her fifth goal of the half. The Polar Bears ended the period with a 14-8 lead.
Just like the first half, Lulejian put HU on the board first in the second half with a free position goal.
The Polar Bears, however, scored nine unanswered goals to end the game.
In goal,
Mandi Phillips made seven saves.
Heidelberg wraps up a three-game homestand on Saturday with a game against Mount Union. Because of a track meet earlier in the day, the match is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
