Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

WLAX closes season on Senior Day

TIFFIN -- Back in action for the first time in more than two weeks, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team fell on Senior Day, 14-8, to Marietta College.  Prior to the game, the team honored its graduates -- Angela Lulejian, Dana Dudley, Macy Zachary, Alexa Hawk and Mandi Phillips.

Heidelberg wrapped up the season 0-12.

The Student Princes opened with an early goal from Lulejian.  Moments later, Dudley scored to make it 2-0.

The Pioneers would go on to score the game's next four goals, until Hannah Kaplan curled around the net and slipped a low shot into the net with 2:18 to play in the first half.

Exactly one minute later, Lulejian took a feed from Dudley and deposited it in the back of the net -- tying the game at four.

Brianna Lloyd opened the scoring in the second half with a goal scored after a lengthy sprint through the Marietta defense.

HU's 5-4 lead was short-lived.  The Pioneers scored the next three goals in quick succession, taking a 7-5 lead.

Undaunted, the Student Princes fought back.  Lulejian completed the Senior Day hat trick while being checked to the ground.  Minutes later, she fed Lloyd who scored the equalizer.

Kaplan scored her second goal of the game, giving Heidelberg another brief lead at 8-7.

The Pioneers scored the next seven goals, taking control of the contest down the stretch.

Marietta held the edge in free position shots, 18-5.  Draw controls were even at 11 a side.

In goal, Ella Lane tallied eight saves.
