NEW CONCORD -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team lost a road contest at Muskingum University on Saturday afternoon 14-11.
The Student Princes fell to 0-9 while Muskingum improved to 1-5.
The Muskies took an early lead with a goal in the first three minutes of action. Muskingum improved upon the first goal to lead 4-0 midway through the first half.
Mazy Zachary scored for Heidelberg with 14:42 remaining in the half unassisted. After two more goals from the Muskies, Zachary and
Angela Lulejian both scored a pair of goals to bring the Student Princes to a one scored deficit at halftime.
Brianna Lloyd scored with an assist from
Kelly Spence in the opening minutes of the second half. Muskingum netted seven more goals and
Hannah Kaplan scored one for The 'Berg, assisted by
Megan Vesely.
Again, Heidelberg came on strong late in the half. Lulejian scored three more goals in four minutes of play, with one assist from Vesely. Muskingum scored with under a minute to play to make the score 14-10. Lulejian scored her sixth goal of the contest nine seconds later.
Mandi Phillips recorded four saves in the loss.
Lulejian took 11 shots for Heidelberg.
The Student Princes will host John Carroll University on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest in Hoernemann Stadium.
