TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University men's soccer team can't seem to find a favorable bounce in the 2020-21 season.  On Thursday, the Student Princes fell to Baldwin Wallace, 2-0, on a rainy evening in Hoernemann Stadium.
Heidelberg remained winless on the year, dropping to 0-4.  BW improved to 1-1-2.
In the 17th minute, Julian Kieres ran onto a long pass and slipped a shot past a sliding
Ben Patrizi, which hit the post and bounced in.
Down 1-0,
Hussein Faraj nearly tied the match in the 69th minute with a shot from the left side that nearly found the top right corner of the net.
In the 75th minute, BW's Bryce Posner rifled a low shot to the right of Patrizi from 25 yards out, finding the side netting.  The tally put the Yellow Jackets ahead 2-0.
Heidelberg had two good looks in the game's final five minutes, including a ball at the back side that
Christopher Flores nearly got a touch on that would have cut the lead in half.
In the final minute,
Jacob Salogar found
Obed Aidoo near the penalty spot, but Aidoo's redirection sailed high.
The Student Princes outshot the Yellow Jackets, 16-11 -- but shots on goal were even at five apiece.
Patrizi made three saves on the evening.
On Sunday, Heidelberg visits Otterbein for a 2 p.m. match.
