TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team was defeated by Capital University 17-5 on Saturday afternoon. The Student Princes are still searching for their first win of the 2021 season.
Heidelberg slipped to 0-5 while the Crusaders improved to 4-1.
Freshman
Cian Howery had a busy day with 23 saves in goal for the Tricolor.
The Student Princes were scoreless in the first quarter.
Liam Weaver scored five minutes into the second frame in a man up opportunity. The goal was assisted by
Jaydon Septer. Capital continued on to an 11-1 lead at halftime.
Heidelberg netted three goals in the third quarter. Weaver scored a second goal unassisted, then
Michael Stiemly scored with an assist from
Chris Storrs. Maximilian Hatty scored the third HU goal in the quarter with 28 seconds remaining. Septer scored the final goal of the afternoon for The 'Berg with 4:28 remaining in the fourth quarter in a man up opportunity. In a reverse of the first goal, Septer was assisted by Weaver.
Capital out-shot Heidelberg 66-22 with Weaver leading HU with eight shots. The Crusaders also took the advantage in ground balls 38-21.
The Student Princes will have a week break before hosting Muskingum University next Saturday.
