TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University softball team faced off against Adrian College on Tuesday afternoon for a pair of games at Frann's Field.

For the sixth time this season, the Berg (6-8) split their doubleheader, falling in game one 8-5, before defeating the Bulldogs (10-6) 8-4 in game two.

On the day, Abby Barno collected four hits, while Bethany Redman, Kennedy Conney, and Brooke Lewis all picked up three hits. Redman, Conney and Lewis combined for eight RBIs on the day.

GAME ONE: ADRIAN - 8, HEIDELBERG - 5

The Student Princes got on the board early aided by a triple to left field by Kat Brady in the leadoff spot. A sacrifice fly by Joanna Catalano was deep enough to score Brady for the game's first run.

However, the Bulldogs took full control of the game exploding for four runs in he top of the fourth, followed by three in the top half of the fifth.

Staring at a tough six-run deficit, the Berg began to work some momentum in the bottom half of the fifth. Back-to-back singles by Bethany Redman and Catalano put two on. Pinch-hitter Raye Hammond then walked to load the bases. From there, three straight singles scored runs for Heidelberg. Kennedy Conney, Bailee Faulkner, and pinch-hitter Brooke Lewis all picked up RBIs in the inning.

Adrian then tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to seal the game in their favor. Casey Moore did single home Brady in the bottom of the sixth, but the run proved to be only consolation.

Morgan Daniels (0-6) started for the Student Princes in the circle, allowing eight hits and seven runs (six earned). Grace Fillinger worked 2.2 innings in relief -- her longest appearance of her career -- and surrendered three hits and one run while striking out two.

GAME TWO: HEIDELBERG - 8, ADRIAN - 4

The nightcap started as a near carbon-copy of the first game, as Brady led off the game with a triple. This time, Redman's sacrifice fly did the trick as Brady scored the game's first run.

From there, Adrian looked to continue their offensive surge scoring three in the second and one in the third. They utilized a pair of triples, either side of a pair of singles to knock in their four runs.

The Berg would go two scoreless before finding the plate again. Lewis kept up her solid day at the plate as her single down the right field line scored Casey Moore.

Heidelberg then fought back to tie the game in the the bottom of the fifth with a two-spot on the scoreboard. The pair of runs came unearned with two outs. Conney first singled to right center to score Redman before Lewis once again knocked in a run as Catalano crossed home.

In the sixth, the Student Princes put up the decisive four runs off of Adrian reliever Emily Baldus (1-1). After Abby Barno and Leah Bouillon led off the inning with singles, Brady reached on an error by the Bulldogs' third baseman. Then, all three runners advanced on a throwing error by Adrian to force across the go-ahead run.

Redman smacked a single through the left side that brought home both Bouillon and Brady to tack on insurance runs with no outs. Moore then scored pinch-runner, Maddie Curtner with a groundout to short for the final run of the day.

Berg starter, Stephanie Drapp (5-1) then worked around a single in the seventh to close out the game. Drapp pitched her fourth complete game of the season and allowed 12 hits and just four runs. The freshman right-hander also struck out three Bulldog hitters.
