TIFFIN -- All five starters finished in double figures as the Heidelberg University women's basketball team walloped visiting Olivet College, 91-61.
Maddy Crawford and
Bailey Walter each tallied double-doubles as the Student Princes (3-4) snapped a three-game skid.
Crawford had a game-high 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, posting her fourth double-double of the season and 29th of her career. Walter finished with 10 points and a whopping 18 rebounds -- her first collegiate double-double.
Brittanie Ulmer scored 17 points and had five assists.
Alli Adelsperger added 12 points and five assists. Not to be outdone,
Brooke Beamer had 11 points and seven assists.
Olivet (2-6) found some success in the first quarter shooting from distance, going 6-of-10 from beyond the arc. The Student Princes, however, used excellent off-the-ball movement to get open looks around the rim. In doing so, HU shot 11-of-14 from the floor in the opening frame and held a 28-20 lead after one.
The Tricolor outscored the visitors 21-7 in the second quarter, holding Olivet to 3-of-16 from the floor. Heidelberg hit on 3-of-4 from long range and gobbled up 14 rebounds. At halftime, HU led 49-27 -- and Crawford and Walter had each collected 10 boards.
From there, the Student Princes were able to maintain control of the contest, while working in reserves off the bench. The only drama in the final 10 minutes was whether Walter could reach the 10-point plateau, which she did with a lay up with 1:30 to play.
Heidelberg shot 58.5% from the floor as a team and 61.5% on 3-pointers. The Student Princes dominated the glass, outrebounding the Comets 46-28.
The Student Princes recorded a season-high 25 assists -- their most in a single game since recording 26 assists at Wittenberg last December.
Deedee Post led Olivet with 21 points.
Heidelberg returns to conference action on Saturday as they play host to Otterbein University. The women's team hosts the first half of a doubleheader, starting at 2 p.m.
