Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball keeps rolling at home

TIFFIN -- For the fourth straight match, the Heidelberg University volleyball team picked up a sweep at home.  The victim on Tuesday night was Kenyon College, who fell to The Berg, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20.  The victory wasn't flashy -- but rather a workmanlike effort in front of a boisterous home crowd.

Taylor Valentine and Maddie Szawranskyj paced the Student Princes with 10 kills apiece.  Anna McNabb had 21 assists while Juilianna Pena had 15.

Amy Feczer, who had seven kills and no errors, added four blocks.

Valentine notched a game-high 18 digs while libero (and national anthem singer) Sarah Oney added 10.

The first set was close until Heidelberg used a mid-set run to build a lead.  Three straight points took HU from a 13-13 tie to a 16-13 lead.  The Ladies would get no closer than two for the rest of the set.

Another inauspicious start for HU in the second set yielded an 8-8 tie early on.  The Student Princes, though, would go on an 8-1 run to take command.  They would cruise to the win, holding Kenyon to an attack percentage of .000.

Kenyon (3-11) held their own in the final set, sticking with Heidelberg (16-3) out to a 15-15 tie.  A mini-run of three points provided separation for the hosts.  A block by Feczer and Kassidy Mason gave the Tricolor a 20-16 lead and prompted a Kenyon timeout.  The respite did little to alter the momentum of the match, as Heidelberg won the set.

Heidelberg attacked .259 as a team while Kenyon hit .157.

The Student Princes -- still just outside the AVCA Top 25 -- visit Wilmington (3-14) on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match.
