TIFFIN, Ohio - The Heidelberg University softball team surrendered their fourth and fifth Ohio Athletic conference losses as they were swept by the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets, 5-1, and 7-2.

Freshman right Erin Chapman had a long day as she threw a combined 11 innings in the Berg's doubleheader. Chapman entered the first contest after Paige Atterholt went three full innings of work. Atterholt surrendered five runs on five hits before being replaced by Chapman.

Chapman threw four scoreless innings in the first game, and only gave up two hits and a walk. In the second game, the Holt, Mich. native collected her sixth complete game of the season. She struck out seven which nearly met her career high of eight.

In the first game, Baldwin Wallace starter, Tabitha Murray held the Student Princes to just two hits. Sophomore shortstop Kayla Zachrich rapped a hard hit single to right field but advanced to third as the BW right fielder could not come up with the ball.

On the ensuing at bat, freshman left fielder Rachel Garris knocked a sacrifice fly to left scoring Zachrich.

In the later contest, it was the bat of sophomore Mikaela Mitsch that gained the Berg ladies their two runs. Mitsch, who has been silent offensively as of late, tattooed a two run home run the left center, plating Lisa Simmons.

As a unit, the Student Princes earned eight hits off of Yellow Jackets starter Erica Morgan in the second game. In odd fashion, the BW starter knocked her own home run off of Chapman in the fourth.

With the pair of losses, Heidelberg softball moves to 10-8 overall and 1-5 in the OAC.

The Student Princes will take a break from OAC competition as they host the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan University on Friday, April 4. First pitch between OWU and the Berg ladies is slated for 3 p.m. from Jock Huffman Field.
