The Heidelberg University football team was well represented on the D3football.com All-Region teams, as announced on Wednesday.  The Student Princes landed six players on the list, tying a program-best set in 2013.

Griffin Pendry was the lone first team selection for Heidelberg -- becoming the university's 20th individual to garner top honors since the award began in 2005. Pendry was named co-OAC Defensive Back of the Year and finished the campaign with three interceptions and 63 tackles.

Three Student Princes received second team honors -- Montavious Yearby, Jace Grossman, and Brandon Reed.  Yearby rushed for 112.3 yards per game and had nine total touchdowns.  Grossman, a tailback for much of his career, was honored as a tight end after filling in because of an injury to 2020 all-region honoree Nick Cofer.  Grossman had 471 all-purpose yards and scored seven touchdowns. Reed was tabbed as a return specialist after a breakout season.  He averaged 28.2 yards per kick return, including a 95-yard touchdown against Muskingum.

Left tackle Wally Kalinowski and punter/linebacker Parker Smith were third team honorees.  Kalinowski anchored the stout offensive line, starting all 10 games for the Tricolor.  Smith, selected as a punter, averaged 40.1 yards per attempt.  He added 59 tackles, including 7.5 for loss.

The Student Princes went 8-2 in the 2021 season which was capped by last-minute wins against John Carroll and Ohio Northern.
