Biography

Tiffin, Ohio – November 23, 2009 – Senior Morgan Magers (Green Springs, Ohio / Old Fort) of the Heidelberg University volleyball team will graduate as a two-time All-American on the court, but now can add Academic All-American honors to her resume as well. Magers was named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-American Third Team. She is the first student-athlete in the history of the volleyball program to earn Academic All-America honors.

Magers earned a spot on the Academic All-America ballot after being voted to the District IV College Division First Team. The honor is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be eligible one must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be at least a sophomore.

Magers is on track to graduate in May with a degree in education intervention specialist. Over the course of her four years she has carried a 3.97 grade point average. Her Academic All-American honor joins her all-district honor, as well as her nod on the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Team. For her career, she has picked up three Academic All-OAC nods and two academic all-district accolades.

A four-year starting setter, Magers amassed 5,639 career assists. She is the only player to eclipse 5,000 assists at the Berg and is just the third player in the OAC. She owns Heidelberg's top-four single-season assists records, and within the career record book she sits at top the assists and sets played categories. In her final campaign she dished out 1,372 assists, to go along with 91 kills, 30 service aces and 304 digs. For her efforts she earned a spot on the All-OAC First Team, the Great Lakes Region First Team and the All-American Second Team.

Heidelberg concluded the year at 27-8 and won its second overall, first outright, OAC Regular Season Title. The Berg hosted the OAC Tournament where it took home runner-up honors and made its third-straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals.
