Biography

Towson, Md. – November 30, 2010 – Senior libero Brittany Donelan (North Olmsted, Ohio / North Olmsted) of Heidelberg University and senior Alix Klineman of Stanford University headline the 2010 ESPN Academic All-American Volleyball teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).

Donelan was tabbed a First Team Academic All-American along with her vote as the top student-athlete for the college division of the Academic All-American program. The college division consists of all NCAA Division II and III institutions, as well as NAIA and junior college schools. Donelan's prestigious honor marks the first student-athlete at Heidelberg to be recognized. Overall she is the second Academic All-American in the history of the Heidelberg volleyball program, joining Morgan Magers from a season ago. Klineman represents the university division that is made up of NCAA Division I institutions.

In May, Donelan will graduate with a double major in accounting and business administration and boasts a 3.96 grade point average. She is a three-time academic all-district and Academic All-OAC selection. In September she was the OAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month.

A four-year starter, Donelan was a three-time OAC Libero of the Year (2008, 2009, 2010) and was named the All-OAC team on three occasions, including a nod on the first team in 2010. She was also voted an All-American in both her junior and senior campaigns and was named to the Great Lakes Region Team on three occasions.

Donelan will graduate as the all-time digs leader at Heidelberg and in the OAC. Donelan also set the career sets played record at the Berg. For her career she helped guide the Berg to four NCAA Regional appearances, two OAC Regular Season titles (2009, 2010) and the 2010 OAC Tournament trophy. Along the way the Berg produced an overall record of 118-33 and was 32-4 against OAC foes. In her final season, Heidelberg went 33-6, which set a new single season record, topping its mark of 31 set during Donelan's sophomore campaign.
