TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Men's Soccer team suffered a disheartening loss to Albion College, 3-2. The men worked for a full 90 minutes, battling through injuries, cards, and September heat to put up a gritty fight.
Berg started off the scoring, only 10 minutes into the first half. Junior
Heath Wilson, on his own, rushed around the defenders, and placed the ball into the lower right corner of the net.
11 minutes later, Berg made it happen again. Senior
Kaiden Reed carried the ball into the box, and made a cross, finding
Greg Sisamis in the middle. However, the ball found Albion's feet, yet still made its way into the net for a second Heidelberg goal.
A foul in the box led to Albion's first-half goal. The penalty kick was placed strategically into the top right corner, putting the score at 2-1.
In the second half, the Student Princes shot five times, but could not find the back of the net. Albion scored their second in the 49th minute. Their final came with a battle from the keeper in the 69th minute.
Xochiel Galvan recorded a career high 11 saves for the Student Princes, nearly doubling his previous record of six.
The men will travel to Cincinnati on Wednesday, Sept. 30 for a match against Mount St. Joseph. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
