Berg field athletes shine at Mount Union Classic

Alliance, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Track & Field team competed at the two day Mount Union Classic. Thursday's running events were halted prior to the 200m, 5k, and 4x400 relays due to weather. Despite the shortened meet, the Student Prince field athletes had a strong showing at the pre-conference meet. 

TRACK EVENTS

Freshman Rachel Mohr and Senior Ana Henderson took 3rd and 4th respectively in the 3000m steeplechase, clocking times of 14:13.77 and 14:36.31. 

FIELD EVENTS

Breakthrough freshman Jalani Reams clinched his first meet title in the javelin throw with a mark of 52.38m, almost 5 meters ahead of 2nd place. 

Junior Amelia Lewin had an all-around showing, with scoring finishes in all 3 of her events. Lewin finished 4th in both shot put (12.48m) and hammer (46m). She took 8th in discus with a throw of 36.18m. 

Senior Josiah Brown threw a personal best mark of 15.06m to finish 4th in the shot put. 

Sophomore Cornell Test took 6th in the pole vault at a mark of 4.48m. 

Senior Kerry Copenhaver added a 7th place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.47m, and was just shy of scoring in javelin at 30.76m.

Freshman Isabella Grennell had two 9th place finishes in discus and shot put (35.62m & 11.63m).


UPCOMING

The Student Princes will return to the track April 30th at Muskingum University for the OAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The two day meet will begin with field events at 11am Thursday, and running at 3:10pm. Friday's field events will kick off again at 11am, with running at 3pm.
