WESTERVILLE -- Heidelberg University Men's Basketball guards
Markell Johnson-Nichols and
Marcos Vazquez were named among the best in the league, landing spots on the All-Ohio Athletic Conference rosters. Johnson-Nichols was a first team honoree while Vazquez was an honorable mention.
Johnson-Nichols, a junior, is just the 20th First Team All-OAC honoree in program history. One year removed from earning second team honors, the Pickerington Central grad is averaging a team-best 14.2 points per game through Thursday night's triumph over Mount Union in the conference semifinals. He also leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per contest and is second in assists (95) and steals (35).
Vazquez, an East Tech grad, transferred to Heidelberg from Shawnee State and made an immediate impact in his senior campaign. He leads the league in assists per game, averaging 5.5 a night. Thus far, he has averaged 13.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
The Student Princes, led by first-year Head Coach
Mike Summey, have had multiple All-OAC honorees in each of the past nine seasons.
Heidelberg travels to Otterbein on Saturday for the OAC Tournament Championship game. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
