NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Death, taxes, and Heidelberg at Mount Union in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament -- the only three things in this world said to be certain.

The No. 5 seed Student Princes knocked off No. 4 seed Muskingum on Tuesday, 84-67, securing the right to face the Purple Raiders in the semis for the fifth year in a row and sixth in the last seven.

Muskingum swept the season series from the Student Princes, but Heidelberg (14-12) answered every Muskie surge throughout the evening inside the energized Steele Center. HU never trailed. 

Sixth-man extraordinaire Jarveil Gainey had 13 of his game-high 25 points in the first half, providing critical separation as the Tricolor settled into the flow of the game. HU led at halftime, 41-30.  

Muskingum (15-11) cut the deficit to nine once and 10 twice in the second half, but each time, HU scored on their next possession.  

Gainey was one of five in double-figures for HU. Trey Killens had 16 while Riley Gossom and Markell Johnson-Nichols each had 13. Marcos Vazquez was two assists shy of a triple-double, racking up 10 points, 10 boards and eight assists. 

Heidelberg shot 57.1% from the floor, including 7-for-14 from long range, and went 13-for-14 from the line. HU won the battle on the glass, 33-25. 

The Student Princes will look to exorcise the demons in Alliance, having fallen in each of their last six tournament games against Mount Union. The squads split their games in the regular season, with both winning at home.

Tipoff on Thursday is slated for 7 p.m., with the winner advancing to face the winner of the Ohio Northern at Otterbein game.
