WESTERVILLE – Heidelberg University Volleyball player Sophia Simon earned OAC Player of the Week honors, marking her first-ever award.

Simon picks up the award after an exceptional week against John Carroll, Cornell (IA), North Park, and Calvin. She posted 29 kills against John Carroll, the most in the 25-point rally scoring era in Heidelberg history. Her 29-kill performance also ranks fourth in the nation for single-match, five-set kills this season. Simon continued her strong play with 29 kills over three matches at the Calvin Invite, bringing her season total to 173 kills, which ranks second in the OAC. She is also 16th nationally in total points and leads the OAC in that category. Additionally, she ranks fourth in the conference in blocks (52), good for 16th in the nation.

The volleyball team continues its season on September 22, facing the University of Findlay at 8:00 p.m. for the first ever Spike Night. This match has been moved indoors due to weather and will be available to stream live on FloSports.tv.
