NORTH MANCHESTER, Indiana -- A fourth-place finish for
Aidan Belgiorno at 197 was the top performance for the Heidelberg University Wrestling team at the Mid-State Invitational. In all, six Student Princes had top-eight performances.
Belgiorno picked up a pair of three-point wins to advance to the semifinals. Defeated there, he medically forfeited the match for third.
Maddox Cade went 3-1 at 133, taking home a fifth-place finish. After dropping his opener, he staved off elimination with a 5-2 sudden victory decision. Buoyed by the triumph, he took his next two bouts with a major decision and a pin.
Cole Herring (125),
Gavin Wickham (184), and
Paul Wilson (197) all took home seventh. Herring was 2-2 with a pin, Wickham went 2-2 with two pins, and Wilsom was 3-2 with two pins.
Tristan Craddock was eighth at 174, going 4-2 with two pins and a tech.
Drew Miller did not place despite picking up three wins.
Next, the Student Princes will do battle at the Adrian Futures tournament next weekend. Regionals start Feb. 27, hosted by Averett College in Virginia.
