TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Men's and Women's Wrestling teams co-hosted the Berg Holiday Duals inside Frann's Fieldhouse on Saturday. A total of 16 teams competed in the event -- the largest gathering of athletes in the new facility to date.
The women's team, in its first year of competition, lost all four of its duals on the day.
Audrey Miracle won twice, picking up pins against Point Park and West Liberty.
Madi Allen added a pin in the loss to Point Park.
The men's team opened the day with a narrow 23-19 win over Trine.
Colin Hering's tech fall and
Drew Miller's win helped HU sit even with the Thunder through four bouts. Trine won the next two and held a 16-8 edge.
Austin Dipzinski picked up a tight 12-10 decision, igniting a 'Berg run.
Owen Frizzell and
Landon Cook followed with pins, ensuring the dual win.
HU followed up the win with another against Mount St. Joseph, 30-18.
Lee Woods won by forfeit and Hering won with a major decision. Miller won at 149, and the Student Princes led 13-5. Wins by the Lions at 157 and 165 closed the gap to 13-12, but again, the Dipzinski, Frizzell, Cook connection (going tech, pin, pin) secured the win.
Heidelberg squared off with Millikin in the final varsity match, with Dipzinski (tech) and Frizzell (pin) picking up wins. Millikin won, 38-11.
Both 'Berg wrestling teams will return to action in 2026.
