1/8/2025 8:53:00 PM

Box Score TIFFIN – The cold outside couldn't stop the action from heating up inside Seiberling Gymnasium as the Heidelberg University Men's Basketball team defeated Baldwin Wallace, 92-81.

All five starters scored in double figures, with Elijah Harden and Eric Panning leading the way with 16 points each. Panning secured his fifth double-double of the season, pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.

With 10:25 remaining in the first half, Jaiden Guerra-Howard put the Student Princes ahead, converting a three-point play to make it 18-17. The teams exchanged the lead before a momentum-shifting dunk by Panning extended Heidelberg's advantage to six with under eight minutes left. Baldwin Wallace pulled within four, but a Manny Hill buzzer-beater closed the half with the Berg up by 14.

In the second half, Baldwin Wallace made a push, cutting the lead to nine with 6:50 to play. However, back-to-back baskets by Manny Hill and Markell Johnson-Nichols restored a 13-point cushion. Baldwin Wallace would get no closer than 10 the rest of the way, as Heidelberg remained steady at the free-throw line, hitting five of their final attempts to seal the win.

Zane Leitwein shot 50% from beyond the arc, scoring 14 points while adding five rebounds. Manny Hill finished with 15 points and three assists, while Johnson-Nichols tallied 12 points and four assists. Heidelberg shot 52.4% from the field and out-rebounded Baldwin Wallace 37-32.

The Student Princes improved to 8-4 (4-1 OAC) and will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 11, against Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
