Richardson second, Berg fourth at ONU

ADA, Ohio -- Highlighted by a runner-up finish by 165-pound sophomore Travis Richardson, the Heidelberg University Wrestling team took fourth at the Ohio Northern Invitational on Saturday. In all, the Student Princes had eight placers.  

Richardson powered his way through the bracket at 165, using two 15-0 tech falls and a pin to advance to the semifinals. There, he upended Olivet's Kyan Larson, 12-5, before falling in the finals.  He was 4-1 on the day.  

At 157, Anthony Grecol brought in a fourth-place finish, going 4-2. He picked up one pin and two techs on the afternoon.  

Colin Hering was fifth at 125, earning two pins and finishing 4-2 on the day. David Gelman took fifth at 133, compiling a 3-2 record with a pin and a tech.  

At 184, Owen Frizzell was sixth. He was 2-2 on the day, grabbing a pin and a major decision. 

At 149, Leon Harrison took home seventh place. Going 4-2 on the day, Harrison had a pin in his opening match. Manny Aller was seventh at 165, going 3-2. Included in his run were two pins and a major -- with his first career victory coming via pin. 

In addition to Aller, Caylan LeMaster, Landon Cook and Kyler Howard all picked up their first collegiate victory. 

The wrestling team returns to action next Saturday, where they host the Berg Holiday Duals. Competition starts at 9 a.m. on Dec. 14, at the Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky.
