TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Men's Wrestling team opened up its conference dual season with a 31-12 setback to John Carroll University on Tuesday. The back-and-forth affair featured three lead changes -- but the Blue Streaks pulled away late.

Heidelberg moved to 0-1 in duals while John Carroll improved to 1-1, 1-0 OAC.

John Carroll won the first three weight classes, building an 11-0 lead in the dual.

At 149, Tristan Craddock used a strong second period to build a 4-1 lead. In the third period, Kyle Bizjak escaped just before Craddock had accrued a minute of riding time, but in the end, Craddock emerged with the 4-2 victory.

Anthony Grecol helped Heidelberg inch closer before intermission, winning 10-5 at 157 pounds.

After the break, Travis Richardson electrified the Mustache Mania crowd with a 43 second pin of Frank Gallo. The six-point win gave Heidelberg a short-lived 12-11 lead in the match.

John Carroll regained the lead with a pin at 174.

Starting down to begin the second period, Owen Frizzell used a reversal to grab a 2-0 lead after two. Wills Bronson returned the favor early in the third, tying the match and winning with a riding time point. The win increased JCU's lead to 20-12 with two bouts remaining.

In all, the Blue Streaks took the first three weights and the final four weights.

Heidelberg returns to action on Nov. 23, at the Olivet Duals.
