ANGOLA, Indiana -- Bolstered by a third-place finish by freshman
Tristan Craddock, the Heidelberg University Wrestling team had a strong showing at the Trine Invitational. A total of 21 wrestlers competed for the Student Princes.
Craddock opened up at 149 with three straight wins, including two pins. After a narrow 4-1 setback in the semis, he beat teammate
Leon Harrison in the consolations, then took a no contest win in the match for third.
Harrison finished sixth at 149, winning his first two bouts of the day before falling into the wrestle-backs. There, he won his next two matches -- including outlasting Olivet's Aden Barnes, 18-17.
At 157,
Anthony Grecol lost his opener -- but roared back with a vengeance. His next five bouts? Pin. Pin. Pin. Pin. Pin. At that point, he had run out of matches and had to settle for no contests and a sixth-place finish.
Aidan Belgiorno won his first two matches at 197, but would end up taking sixth with a medical forfeiture.
David Gelman had three wins on the day, all coming via pin. Others with two wins on the day included
Lee Woods,
Colin Hering,
Maddox Cade,
Carter Mock,
Travis Richardson,
Khelei Tillman, and
Paul Wilson.
