TIFFIN – The Heidelberg University Men's Basketball team got back in the win column, knocking off pesky Wilmington, 66-52. An 11-1 second-half run from the HU bench helped put The Berg on top. Four Heidelberg players scored in double figures in the win.
Eric Panning notched another double-double scoring 16 while pulling down 14 rebounds.
Isaiah Young,
Jashun Cobb, and
Zachary Chatmon all tallied 10 points in the win.
The visitors got out to an early 8-5 lead after a fastbreak layup from Jayden Lewis. But Heidelberg fought back and took a four-point lead (19-15) when Chatmon knocked down a shot from deep.
After extending their lead to 21-15, the hosts saw the lead slip away with Wilmington tying it up at 24-24 with under two minutes to go in the first half. A missed Domenic Farley 3-point try resulted in a Rashid Chisholm put back to end the half, 26-24 in favor of the Quakers.
The visitors saw their largest lead of the game in the second half when Gavin Heimlich knocked down a three making it 37-30 with 16:05 left. After a haphazard stretch where both teams were scoreless, 'Berg Head Coach

Zachary Chatmon went on a game-altering 15-4 run over a five-minute stretch.
With the starters back in, Heidelberg pulled away late. Panning took control of the paint -- adding five points and five rebounds in the final seven minutes of action. Wilmington's attempt to extend the game by fouling was thwarted by Young's 4-for-4 performance at the line.

Panning has had a double-double in all 13 games of the season.
