TIFFIN -- Hosting an OAC quad dual for the second time in three years, the Heidelberg University Wrestling team went 2-1. The Student Princes sandwiched a loss to Ohio Northern between two resounding wins against Wilmington and Otterbein.
Brendan Yob and
Aidan Belgiorno were both undefeated, going 2-0 on the day. Also finishing with two wins were

Drew Miller,
Anthony Grecol,
Adam Medeiros, and
Demitrius Hernandez.

The Quakers forfeited four weights, including the first three.
Claude Buckmaster won HU's first contested points with a 15-6 dismantling of Rylan Hurst at 149. At 157, Grecol picked up a pin against Aaron Pardo.
After Wilmington won at 165,
Nate St. Bernard righted the ship with a pin in the third period. Medeiros won by forfeit at 184.
At 197, Belgiorno won the most closely-contested bout of the dual, beating Caleb Tackett, 12-10. Hernandez capped the win with a 12-6 victory at 285.
Heidelberg hasn't lost to Wilmington since 1983, a stretch that covers 18 matches.

Resting a few starters against nationally-ranked Ohio Northern, Heidelberg struggled to find momentum.

Yob and Gelman kicked off the tussle with the Cardinals in a big way. Each scored a first-period pin, rocketing Heidelberg out to an early 12-0 lead. Miller fought his way to a 12-10 win at 141 and HU led 15-0.
After an Otterbein pin at 149, Grecol turned around and beat Jacob Williams at 157, 8-5. Otterbein, down 18-9, won the next two weights and closed to within three at 18-15.
The turning point in the match came at 184 when Medeiros, the battle-tested graduate student, pinned Gary Steele in 1:07. Belgiorno followed with a major decision at 197, ensuring a 'Berg win.
Hernandez put the cherry on top with a second-period pin.
