TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Volleyball team dropped both halves of a Saturday trimatch, falling first to OAC foe Muskingum, 3-0, before losing to Case Western Reserve, 3-1. The Student Princes' skid has extended to seven straight.
Muskingum took the opener, 26-24, 25-19, 25-20, thanks in large part to a .283 hitting percentage. Heidelberg hit .142 in the match.
After the Spartans swept Muskingum in the middle match, they rebounded from a first-set loss to HU and won in four -- 25-27, 25-21, 25-20, 28-26. HU was done in by 10 CWRU aces.
Riley Tople led HU with 19 kills on the afternoon, hitting .261.
Anamya Truex and
Lexi Evak each had 15 kills, with Evak hitting an impressive .368.
Lexi Wachtman had 14 kills and five aces, as well as notching 77 serve receives.
Nicole Thomas picked up 38 digs and
Grace Dohanyos had 24.
Grace Porter and Evak each had eight blocks.
Gabby Cumbo,
Bridgette Burrus and
Maddie Reed shared the setting duties, all racking up more than 20 assists.
Heidelberg visits John Carroll on Wednesday as OAC action continues. The match will start at 7 p.m.
