OLIVET, Michigan -- The Heidelberg University wrestling team went 2-2 at the Olivet Duals on Saturday, moving to 2-3 in dual meets on the season.
David Gelman, Josh Gibson, and
Travis Richardson, led the way with three victories on the day.
Heidelberg 49 Muskegon 3
Aided by five straight Muskegon forfeits, Heidelberg won the opener handily.
Brenden Yob kicked off the dual with a hard-fought 6-2 win at 125. Up 33-0 after the forfeit parade,
Anthony Grecol made his season debut with a 15-4 major. Muskegon picked up their lone win at 184 before Nathan St. Bernard won a shutout, 4-0, and
Demitrius Hernandez punctuated the romp with a second-period pin.
Heidelberg 33 Alma 14
Down 5-0 after the 125 bout, HU responded with consecutive bonus-point wins.
David Gelman walloped his opponent at 133, 14-0, before Josh Gibson picked up a pin at 141. At 157,
Travis Richardson teched his opponent, 18-2 -- giving the Student Princes a 15-11 lead. Decisions for Grecol and
Carter Mock extended HU's lead. Up 21-14 at 197,
Gavin Wickham picked up his first collegiate win -- a first-period pin which sealed the match. Hernandez tacked on his second fall of the day for good measure.

Things didn't go Heidelberg's way.
Olivet 23 Heidelberg 21
The Student Princes took an early lead with a forfeit at 125, a Gelman decision and a Gibson pin. After conceding three points at 149, the Tricolor extended the lead to 21-3 with a Richardson pin. From there, the hosts began to chip away. The Comets won the final five weight classes, including a critical tech fall and pin. Olivet won the match with a decision at 285.
