Box Score ADA, Ohio -- On Friday, the Heidelberg University volleyball team dropped their first game of the weekend to Denison, 3-1. The contest was part of the Ohio Northern Invitational.
Heidelberg moves to 5-4, while Denison advances to 4-5.
Like Wednesday's match, HU fell short again in four sets (25-21, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17). They made a late move by winning the third, but was unable to convert in the fourth to keep the fight going.
Grace Porter found herself in double digits and leading the kills category with 12. Liana Petiti, Hope Cuppett and Lexi Evak all added five of their own.
Juliana Pena and Kelsey Custenborder cleaned up on assists, dishing out 17 and 12. Libero Nicole Thomas also added two of her own.
There were also two players in double digits for digs, Liana Petitti had 16 and Nicole Thomas tallied 13. It was a very close game in the digs column, with Denison picking up 69 to the Student Prince's 62.
Evak matched her season high for blocks, knocking down six. Cuppett and Petitti each added three as well. In total, Heidelberg had more blocks than Denison, 16-4.
The HU volleyball team will take the court again right back at ONU on Saturday. The squad will play in two matches – Depauw at 10 a.m. and Earlham at 3 p.m.
