BEREA -- Faced with a monumental task early in the season, the Heidelberg University wrestling team was upended by No. 12 Baldwin Wallace  in the OAC opener.  The Yellow Jackets won in nine of the 10 bouts, winning 38-3.  

Adam Medeiros had the lone victory for the Student Princes, winning 9-4 at 184.  Wrestling against Griffin Rathburn, Medeiros scored an early takedown to nab the lead.  

Ahead 2-1 after one, the 'Berg senior started down and escaped quickly in the second. Midway through the period, Medeiros powered his way to another takedown and rode out the frame.  

Up 5-1 to start the third, Medeiros yielded an escape early, and was taken down with less than a minute left.  Rathburn, trailing by a point, cut Medeiros to make it 6-4. Despite the Ursprung Gymnasium crowd urging on their Yellow Jacket, it was the Student Prince who scored the final takedown of the match in the closing seconds.  A point for riding time provided the final score, 9-4.  

Though Medeiros notched the only win, Claude Buckmaster (149), Carson Mendoza-Pottenger (165), Jacob Horsch (174) and Gabe Martinez (285) all had gritty performances     

The Student Princes (0-1, 0-1 OAC) return to action in two weeks when they play host to John Carroll on Nov. 29.  The match, slated for 7 p.m., will mark the program's annual Mustache Mania event.
