TIFFIN -- On Wednesday, the Heidelberg University volleyball team traveled to Ohio Northern where they fell short in the fourth set – 25-16, 30-28, 20-25, 25-22.
Ohio Northern improved to 14-5 (4-0 OAC) while Heidelberg dropped to 6-14 (1-3 OAC).
The first set started out faced paced, with five service errors coming from both teams in just the first 11 points. Ohio Northern picked up some chemistry and Heidelberg couldn't match the momentum, falling 25-16.
The second set went smoother for The Berg. They started to find some weaknesses in the ONU offense and gained more confidence by going on a few runs. Unfortunately, Heidelberg fell short 30-28, despite having five set-point opportunities.
Though they dug themselves a 7-1 deficit at the start of the third set, HU managed to battle back. An attack error by ONU put the Student Princes ahead 12-11. From there, they battled their way to a 25-20 win for the set victory.
An exhilarating fourth set ended in a tough 25-22 loss for Heidelberg.
Lexi Wachtman and
Lexi Evak led the team in kills, both hitting 12.
Grace Porter was also in double digits with ten.
Anamya Truex had five blocks on the night, followed by
Ashley Foster with four and Porter at three.

Nicole Thomas tallied 18 digs and
Jeylo Hernandez Rodriguez marked 14 – a season-high for the sophomore.
Heidelberg took the gold in total blocks, topping ONU 16-8.
The Heidelberg volleyball team will be back in Tiffin on Saturday as they host a tri-match with Albion and Otterbein. The 'Berg will play Otterbein at noon and Albion at 4 p.m.
