NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- On Saturday, the Heidelberg University volleyball team traveled to Muskingum University for the opening match of OAC gameplay for the 2022 season. The Berg fell in four sets -- 25-13, 21-25, 25-12, 25-17.
Receiving votes in the AVCA rankings, Muskingum improved to 12-3 (1-1 OAC). Heidelberg fell to 5-12 (0-1 OAC).
The Berg was able to steal the second set from the Muskies, winning 25-21.
Despite the loss, the Student Princes weren't far behind in statistics, competing in every column.
Both in double digits, leading the kills tally were
Lexi Evak (12) and
Lexi Wachtman (11).
Julianna Pena had 23 assists on the day, her seventh game of the season surpassing 20.
On the defense, libero
Nicole Thomas scooped up 21 digs on the day.
Back in action, the OAC honors recipient
Anamya Truex led the Tricolor in blocks for the day with seven.
Grace Porter tagged along knocking down five of her own.
Heidelberg faces their second conference opponent, John Carroll, on Wednesday. They host the Blue Streaks for a 7 p.m. start time.
