RICHMOND, Ind -- The Heidelberg University men's soccer team scored a pair of goals in the final 12 minutes of play to beat Earlham College and remain undefeated in the 2021 season.
Heidelberg improves to 2-0 while Earlham falls to 0-2.
The two teams remained equal until the 79th minute.
Matthew Eberling stepped up to take a corner kick for The Berg.
Rafael Bellucci Marin put his head on the cross for a perfect redirection to the back-side of the goal. Marin had just subbed into the game during the corner kick stoppage.
Marin assisted on another Heidelberg goal in the 84th minute as he sent
Nick Mangone on a through ball into the Quaker's penalty area. Mangone hit a left-footed shot past the Earlham goalkeeper for a score.
Heidelberg out-shot the Quakers 14-7 and led in corner kicks 7-2.
Sigurd Ilestad made one save and recorded the first shutout of his career.
Heidelberg travels to Anderson College tomorrow afternoon for a 2 p.m. contest.
