TIFFIN -- There's no place like home … under a spotlight.

Wrestling under the lights of Seiberling Gymnasium for the first time since February 11, 2020, the Heidelberg University wrestling walloped the Muskingum Fighting Muskies, 40-3.

The Student Princes won nine of the 10 weight classes, led by pins from Logan Germaine and Adam Medeiros.

Harrison Hadley took down Noah Houchins early in the first to take the lead.  After Houchins was hit with a stalling violation, Hadley ended the first with four back points.  Hadley continued to dominate in the second, scoring a reversal and more back points before securing the 16-1 technical fall in 4:00.

At 133, Heidelberg's Nathan Demangeont took a quick lead with a takedown of Hunter Heck.  Heck would eventually escape, and trailed 2-1 after one.  In the second, Demangeont took Heck down three times, with Heck escaping twice.  Up 8-4 in the third, Demangeont worked his way to a 13-5 major decision.

Kyle Fanson was aggressive early, scoring a takedown -- but Cooper Hemming quickly reversed the situation, tying the match.  Fanson returned the favor and rode out the period on top.  Down 4-2 in the second, Hemming tied the match with a takedown midway through the period.  In the third, Hemming yielded a stalling point before Fanson escaped -- giving the 'Berg sophomore a 6-4 lead.  With riding time not a factor, Fanson held off Hemming for a 6-4 win, putting HU ahead 12-0.

Heidelberg wrestled from in front at 149 following an early two points from Dwight Parker.  Parker allowed Tanner Donathan to escape after 23 seconds and the first period ended 2-1.  Parker chose to start the second on bottom and had escaped before the referee's whistle stopped echoing inside Seiberling Gymnasium.  After ending the second with a takedown, Parker tallied another early in the third.  Donathan was able to stave off Parker's attempts for bonus points, but Parker emerged with a 7-2 win.

At 157, Carson Pottenger had two takedowns in the first and nearly stuck Isaac Sell just before the first period buzzer.  Up 8-1, Pottenger continued to control the match but was unable to flip Sell over.  Instead, he muscled his way to a 20-7 major decision.

After intermission, Logan Germaine kept Heidelberg's string of quick takedowns alive, scoring two on Deric Ellyson.  Two back points gave Germaine a 4-0 after one.  After another takedown in the second, Germaine secured the pin 14 seconds into the period.  The pin was his second of the season.  Heidelberg led 25-0.

Devin Miller wasted no time taking control of the 174 bout.  He took down Tate Sterling several times before Sterling ended the match with an injury forfeit.

The string of six-pointers continued at 184 as Adam Medeiros delighted the crowd with a 20-second pin of Jacob Baca.  The fall gave HU a 37-0 advantage.

Aidan Belgiorno led 2-1 after one at 197, but Noah DeHainaut escaped early in the second to tie the match.  Tied 2-2 in the third, Belgiorno escaped to take a brief lead.  DeHainaut took a 4-3 lead with a takedown, but Belgiorno knotted the match with an escape.  Just before the final horn, DeHainaut broke the tie with a takedown, putting the Muskies on the board.

Following a scoreless first period at 285, Muskingum's Andrew McFee was hit with a penalty point for locking hands.  HU's Gabriel Martinez widened the lead with a reversal midway through the second, then tacked on a takedown.  Down 5-1, McFee registered an escape and a takedown, cutting the deficit to 5-4.  Martinez, though, would add a point for an escape and riding time, winning 7-4.

Heidelberg has won the last 19 duals against the Muskies, a stretch that dates back to 2003.

The Student Princes return to the mats on Saturday at the Ohio Northern Invitation.
