University Heights, OH – The Heidelberg University volleyball team battled the John Carroll University Blue Streaks to a five-set victory (25-21, 19-25, 25-23, 22-25, 15-10) on Wednesday night.

The Student Princes improve to 17-8 overall and 5-3 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while the setback drops the Blue Streaks to 12-15, 3-5 against OAC foes.

Offensively, senior
Maddie Szawranskyj led the Heidelberg charge with 21 kills and four service aces, both match-highs.
Liana Petitti helped the Berg effort with 19 kills and two aces against the Blue Streaks. The Olmsted Township, Ohio native was active defensively tallying 26 digs.Â

Sarah Oney led the tri-color with 27 digs, elevating her season total to a team-high 548. Oney's 5.77 digs per set currently leads the OAC.

Sadie Estle guided the Berg with a team-high six blocks to accompany her ten kills. Szawranskyj andÂ
Anamya Truex got involved with five and three blocks respectively.

Cassi Calamunci and Kailee Herbst led John Carroll with 19 and 18 kills respectively. Anna Coughlin led the Blue Streaks with 27 digs, followed by Calamunci (19).

The 3-2 victory over John Carroll moves the Student Princes into sole possession of fifth place in the OAC standings heading into the regular season finale on Saturday.Â
