Berg chews up Grizzlies, 19-2

FRANKLIN, Indiana -- The Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team overpowered host Franklin College on Saturday, winning 19-2.   The Student Princes outshot the Grizzlies, 50-11.

Heidelberg improved to 2-0 on the young season.    

The Student Princes were led by Angela Lulejian, who scored seven goals and added an assist.  Anna Winnicki added four goals while Jenna Carman had two goals and four assists.  

In all, seven Heidelberg players tallied a goal in the romp.  

A methodical offensive approach allowed The Berg to score 12 times in the first half.  Each goal was no more than four minutes apart.  

With a running clock, Heidelberg outscored Franklin 7-2 in the second half.  HU was ahead 15-0 when the Grizzlies got on the board with a goal nine minutes into the period.  

Mandi Phillips played the first half in goal and Ella Lane made her collegiate debut in the second half.  Defensively, Lulejian had a team-high seven ground balls and Sydney Shaffer had five.  

The Student Princes return to action on Sunday, March 8, when they host Hanover.  The game -- which was originally slated for Saturday March 7 -- is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
