Strenk's sparkling night helps VB sweep

BEXLEY, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team kept its momentum rolling on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 win over Capital University. The Berg has now won four straight matches in consecutive sets.

Heidelberg improves to 15-11, 5-3 in OAC play. The Crusaders fall to 9-19, 1-7 in the conference.

HU held a slim lead for most of the opening set. After Capital threatened by cutting the score to 24-23, senior Rachel Stroski hammered a kill to give the Student Princes the first set win.

The Berg trailed 24-22 in the second set, but Morgan Strenk revived the Student Princes with a kill. Heidelberg used three Capital attack errors to take the second set, 26-24.

The visitors worked quickly in the third set, attacking at a stout .314 percentage to take the match. Heidelberg used an 11-point run to turn a 14-14 tie into a 25-14 win.

Strenk finished the evening with an impressive .684 kill percentage. The junior concluded the match with a team-high 15 kills. Stroski contributed 12 kills.

Taylor Valentine tallied 16 digs and 11 kills, while libero Rachel Raimondo recorded 15 digs. Sophomore setter Anna McNabb dished up 46 assists.

HU concludes regular season play on Saturday afternoon. The Student Princes will travel to Wilmington College for a 1 p.m. match.
