Volleyball loses to No. 3 Calvin

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team fell to No. 3 Calvin College on Friday. The match was the first of three straight nationally-ranked opponents Heidelberg will face at this weekend's Wittenberg Fall Classic.

The Student Princes fell to 7-4 on the season, as the Knights moved to 8-0.

Calvin won in straight sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-23.

Sarah Parker was the biggest weapon offensively for Heidelberg. The senior tallied 10 kills, attacking at a team-high .227 clip. Janessa Scott and Mariah Sullivan each had six kills.

Setting the table was Karlie DiRuzza. DiRuzza notched 22 assists.

Rachel Raimondo (14 digs) and Sydney Moore (13 digs) paced the team defensively.

Heidelberg returns to action with a pair of games on Saturday. HU faces No. 19 Washington at 11 a.m. and No. 5 Juniata at 3 p.m.
