TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University men's soccer team scored late and held on for a 2-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace University on Wednesday night. Joseph Tallarico and Isaac Bwayo were the goalscorers for the Student Princes.

The Berg improved to 6-7-1 overall, 3-2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. BW dropped to 5-11, 2-4 in the OAC.

The Student Princes took the lead in the 13th minute on a Joseph Tallarico tally. The sophomore's third goal of the season came off of a corner kick by Alexis Mendoza. Tallarico leapt high on the near side and headed the ball in off the post.

Down 1-0 at halftime, Baldwin Wallace had two chances at an equalizer in the first 90 seconds. Each time, HU goalkeeper Alex Archambeau was up to the task.

The Yellow Jackets did tie the match midway through the second half. Ryan Hassell hit home a deflected ball off the foot of Logan Davis.

The Student Princes regained the lead with a goal by Isaac Bwayo with 3:01 left in the half. Bwayo's right-footed blast was his first of the season.

BW appeared to tie it up seconds later, but an offsides whistle negated the goal. The Student Princes held on for the victory.

Heidelberg outshot the Yellow Jackets, 23-11. Archambeau (3-1) made seven saves in the victory.

"Any time you can pick up three points against a quality side like Baldwin Wallace, it's a good day," said first-year head coach Pat Svihlik. "At times, we put together good sequences offensively, and other times we became a bit complacent."

The Student Princes host Marietta on Saturday for Senior Day. Gametime is slated for 1 p.m.
